Tuesdays

I’d always drive over on a Tuesday.

Volume dialed to 26,

humming foreign languages.

Breathlessly making my way up

those stairs.

Taking my place on your

velvet orange retro couch.

The couch sagged on the left

from the sleepover nights.

The wear of laughing fits

and group cuddles.

The sagging fabric on the left

is our proof of life.

My proof of life.

One that took 20 years

for me to find,

because a pulse just wasn’t enough.
